Transfering your mail happens once you have completed a change of address with the USPS. There are two types of address changes: a permanent and a temporary. In both cases, your mail will be transfered to your new address automatically, through the USPS.
Mail forwarding is free. There is a $1.10 charge just for verification purposes, which is done directly with the USPS. A virtual mailbox starts at $9.95/mo when billed annually.
Temporary mail forwarding will last for 6 months. Permanent mail forwarding will last for 12 months. This will give you plenty of time to update your contacts, including banks, IRS & other government agencies.
