The Mexican government has modified the simplified customs clearance process. Shippers must now provide more detailed information about their shipments to comply with the new regulations.

Required Information for Express Shipments

To ensure smooth customs processing and avoid delays, shippers must provide:

• A detailed description of the goods – Clearly specify the nature and purpose of each item.
• Consignee’s full name and complete address – Ensure accuracy for proper delivery.
• Tax Identification Numbers:
  • For Mexican Residents: Provide the RFC (Registro Federal de Contribuyentes) and CURP (Clave Única de Registro de Población).
  • For Non-Mexican (Foreign) Nationals: Provide an alternative identification number, such as Social Security Number (SSN), Tax ID, or Passport Number.
• Consignee’s contact information – Include their email address and phone number for communication purposes.

What Happens If the Required Information Is Missing?

Shipments missing any of the required details will be returned to the sender at their expense. To avoid this, ensure all information is accurate and complete before shipping.

Who Needs to Provide a Mexican Tax ID?

Any shipment consigned to a Mexican resident must include their RFC and CURP (Mexican Tax ID numbers). For non-Mexican (foreign) nationals, an alternative identification number such as SSN, Tax ID, or Passport Number is required.
